What is its function?
The function of hydraulic fluid is to provide the hydraulic system with enough power to enable the system to complete tasks. As an example, the hydraulic fluid within a system will give the hydraulic arms of a construction vehicle, such as a loader, the ability to move the arms as necessary to lift and carry heavy loads. However, the hydraulic fluid’s function within a hydraulic system extends beyond providing the system with power. The hydraulic fluid is also responsible for lubricating the system to ensure that all operations with the system run smoothly, without friction. The fluid is responsible for transferring heat, preventing systems from overheating or cooling too much. Finally, the hydraulic fluid reduces the risk of damage from contaminants as it flushes them away.
How does it work?
Hydraulic fluid is pushed through the hydraulic system by means of a hydraulic pump powered by an electric motor. The pump converts the mechanical energy of the fluid into power. Once the system has power, it can be used to lift incredibly heavy loads, press strong materials and so much more. Once the energy has been used and the machine has completed its task, the hydraulic cylinder within the system will then convert the hydraulic energy back into mechanical energy.
